Professional experiences
Since February 8, 2024: I'm Director of Communications and a member of the board of directors of the social economy enterprise Connec-T, which specializes in audio description of live performances.
Summer 2023: Researcher for the Observatoire des médiations culturelles (Observatoire des Médiations Culturelles, OMEC). I wrote two articles (to be published) on the actresses and actors who do cultural mediation in the administrative regions of Montérégie and the Laurentians. The articles will first be published in the Cahiers de l’OMEC and will subsequently be collected in a further publication.
April 12, 2022: Following an invitation from Editors Canada, I hosted a webinar on editing and web accessibility. At the end of this 2-hour online training, participants were able to identify elements that represent potential barriers in terms of web accessibility, localization and linguistic inclusion (epicene writing, simplified text and French alternative spelling), but also to offer their clients simple and inexpensive solutions to address these accessibility issues.
November and December 2021: Consultation, preparation and facilitation of the descriptive guided tour during the pilot day at the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec (MNBAQ). Following my internship, the MNBAQ requested my expertise to help members of the community mediation team adapt the guided tours to make them accessible to people living with visual limitations.
Since May 2021: I'm a member of the Global Skills Opportunity(GSO) program advisory group chaired by the Right Honourable David Johnston. The GSO program was designed to encourage the participation of low-income, disabled and Indigenous students in study or work experiences abroad. The program is funded by Employment and Social Development Canada.
Since fall 2020: I'm a lecturer in the Department of Linguistics and Translation at the Université de Montréal. I teach interlinguistic translation, from English to French.
Education
I am a doctoral candidate in translation studies at the Université de Montréal. I am finishing writing my thesis on audio description in museum context. I was an audio description intern at the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec and had the immense privilege of creating the first descriptive tour there, during which I put forward a writing technique that is unique in North America. I also advised the Community Mediation and Public Engagement team to raise awareness of the reality of blind and visually impaired people.
In 2018, I obtained a Master's degree in Translation Studies, Research Option, from Concordia University. I was interested in translation and web accessibility. The end result is the development of a grid for evaluating quality of translation and accessibility of a web page for blind and visually impaired people. To date, my thesis has been viewed more than 775 times.
Finally, in 2014, I successfully completed the Bachelor's degree in Translation, from English to French, from Concordia University. Since then, I have been translating freelance in the fields of real estate and the arts, my main client being the Conseil des arts de Montréal.
